Tang Soo Do Classes Thursdays at 6:00 pm In the Lodge Room:

Tang Soo Do is a traditional Korean martial art (Karate) that focuses on movement and uses a series of striking, blocking and kicking techniques. There is a great body of evidence which supports the benefits of martial arts training throughout the lifespan. More recently, there is evidence which shows that martial arts training, especially Karate, improves cognition and emotional well-being. The training also improved participants' balance and coordination which helped reduce the incidence of falls, a major concern for older adults. In addition, the training improved everyone's overall fitness and had a major positive impact on self-esteem.
Your instructor, Elk member Brian Olden, a 5th Degree Black Belt, has been teaching martial arts for over 40 years. He emphasizes that anyone can practice Tang Soo Do and is skilled in making adaptations to Tang Soo Do practice so that physical limitations are not an obstacle. Training at the Elks Lodge will be conducted utilizing appropriate social distancing using face masks and no physical contact among students. There is no charge for Lodge members in good standing.
